Cozy Winter Nights
As the son of a bluegrass banjo player and a classical pianist, Jonathan was impressed with a desire to be proficient in many different kinds of music. He spent his high school years learning fingerpicking guitar. In college the next logical step was to study classical music with Dr. Douglas James at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. While at ASU he also met his wife, Melony. In between his academic pursuits, he continued to steadily improve his bluegrass chops on guitar and mandolin.
To date, Jonathan Maness has gotten the opportunity to play with the likes of Sam Bush, Doc Watson, David Holt, Riders in the Sky and Wayne Henderson. He now spends his time touring with the contemporary Christian Country group, Young Harmony, working on a record with his good friend Clint Alphin, and finishing up the tracking of a progressive bluegrass solo project. This debut album will showcase his versatile guitar playing, his tasteful mandolin licks and his smooth baritone voice, all in a musical package that is sure to surprise, impress, and touch you, the listener.
